This album was recorded between 9/2014 and 3/2015, during which time John had temporarily lost the hearing in his right ear. However, John remained sole-engineer on the project, and during the fall and winter he laid down the instruments track by track, enlisting a few friends here and there, and even his father to provide accompaniment on other instruments for his first self-recorded solo venture. In March the four songs were sent to Dan Mckinney to be mastered.
